Shade Net Solutions
Manage sunlight for nurseries, growing spaces and outdoor areas with a shade level chosen around the application.

A shade net reduces the sunlight reaching the space beneath it while retaining an open fabric structure. For growers, that makes it a useful tool for managing exposure during propagation, nursery care and seasonal changes. For other outdoor spaces, it can provide shade while allowing airflow.
Gajpex’s catalogue includes green, warp-knitted HDPE shade nets with approximate shade factors of 50%, 75% and 90%. Start with the light requirement of the crop or activity, then consider the supporting structure, local conditions and installation.
Choose the shade level around the light you need
A higher shade percentage reduces more incoming light. That does not make it automatically better: excessive shade can limit growth for plants that need stronger light. Crop, season, location and existing overhead cover all influence the choice.
| Approximate shade factor | Selection guidance |
|---|---|
| 50% | A starting point when balancing light reduction with a brighter growing environment. Check suitability for the specific crop. |
| 75% | Consider where a more shaded environment is required, after assessing plant light needs and seasonal exposure. |
| 90% | A high-shade option for applications needing substantial light reduction. Confirm that the reduced light suits the intended activity. |
Where shade nets can fit
Plant nurseries
Plan shade around propagation stages, plant species and the transition to outdoor conditions. Keep irrigation and ventilation in the same growing-space plan.
Farm growing areas
Assess seasonal light and crop requirements before specifying the net. Shade factor alone does not establish a particular temperature reduction or yield outcome.
Terraces and gardens
Create a shaded area for suitable plants or outdoor activities. Check the attachment points and exposure before fitting fabric to an existing structure.
Outdoor utility spaces
Discuss shading needs for working or storage areas. A shade net is an open fabric and should not be specified as a waterproof roof.
Specify the fabric and the installation together
The listed Gajpex nets use UV-stabilised HDPE monofilament or tape in a warp-knitted construction. Confirm the precise material, dimensions and edge finishing for the grade being quoted. UV stabilisation is a material feature; it is not an unconditional service-life guarantee.
Measure the structure and allow for the chosen attachment method. Spread tension across appropriate fixing points rather than concentrating force at a few corners. Large exposed installations need supports and anchors that suit local wind conditions.
- State the crop or use, location and preferred shade percentage.
- Provide finished length and width, units and the structure layout.
- Confirm edge reinforcement, joining and fixing requirements.
- Include quantity, delivery PIN code and required date.
Look after the net between seasons
Inspect fixings, tears and rubbing points regularly. Keep the fabric away from sharp edges and repair damage using a method suitable for its construction. Clean gently, allow it to dry and store it clear of chemicals and heat when not in use.
Questions about shade nets
Does 75% shade mean the area will be 75% cooler?
No. Shade factor describes light reduction, not the percentage reduction in temperature. Airflow, humidity, structure and weather also affect conditions beneath the net.
Is a shade net waterproof?
No. Its open construction allows air and rain to pass. If keeping rain out is the priority, discuss a separate waterproof covering system.
Which percentage should I choose for my plants?
Base the choice on the species, growth stage, season and location. Seek crop-specific growing advice and assess conditions rather than selecting the highest shade percentage by default.
Can I request a specific size?
Send the required dimensions and fixing arrangement to Gajpex. Confirm available widths, joining, finishing, minimum quantity and lead time in the quotation.
How long will the net last outdoors?
Service life depends on the grade, sunlight, wind, installation and maintenance. Ask for product-specific information and any applicable warranty terms rather than assuming a fixed lifespan.
